Dear Professional Colleague,

On behalf of the Governing Council of our Great Institute, I wish to convey our best wishes to you, our distinguished member, in appreciation of your concerted efforts in moving the Institute to greater heights as we wrap up an eventful 2019 and shift our momentum to focus on the new calendar year, 2020.

I want to sincerely thank you for your contributions and commitment to celebrating the Institute’s 60th Anniversary Celebration. It was truly a year of reflection on the Institute’s journey through the years and its evolution as the premier professional body in Nigeria.

The celebrations equally served as a wakeup call to the Institute and to all insurance practitioners that there is still a lot of work to be done to actualize the Insurance industry of our dreams. For all your efforts and your show of love to the Institute during its 60th Anniversary celebrations, I say thank you.

I equally want to appreciate your participation in the Institute’s programmes during the past year; The Professionals’ Forum, Education Seminar, the Graduation Ceremonies of both the Institute and the College of Insurance and Financial Management Studies (CIFMS) and our trainings and seminars to mention a few. We have so many points of pride, too many to do them all justice in this message. The successes recorded in all these programmes were due to the support and cooperation of members of the Institute for which we are immensely grateful.

The year 2020 is an important year for the insurance industry. It is a year in which we are mandated to put into practice all that we have preached as professionals.
Recapitalization of Insurance and reinsurance companies is no longer an idea but a reality and the industry has to embrace it wholly. Its advent calls for insurance professionals to embrace creativity and work harder than ever before for the future of this industry. It will not be an easy ride and all our resources will be stretched thin, however it is my belief that we will all profit from this exercise.

I would also like to commend the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) for their support for the Institute and College programmes in 2019. I urge all trade bodies of the industry namely: NIA, NCRIB, ILAN and ARIAN to stay committed to promoting the insurance industry’s agenda. Together we can achieve so much.

Dear professionals, I enjoin you all to embrace professionalism and uphold the Institute’s ethics and values in the course of your business dealings in the year 2020.
I will like to reiterate that the membership of the Institute is one of the major ways to get to the pinnacle of the insurance profession. You can only be truly identified as a member by promptly paying your dues, levies and participating in the programmes lined up in the Institute’s calender.

There are many benefits to be derived from the membership of the Institute including but not limited to access to industry reports and research papers, discounted examination fees, group life benefits ( to the tune of N500,000) and permanent disability benefits (to the tune of N250,000). The Institute remains committed to offering value to its members and I can assure you that more benefits will be unveiled in the nearest future.

The theme of my Presidency has been focused on Advancing Insurance Education and Professionalism. This is consistent with our mission to provide to provide world class manpower with the highest standard of professional and ethical training for operating effectively and efficiently in the Nigerian and International business environment.

The Institute is our pride and represents a beacon of light to the insurance industry. It is my hope that as stakeholders, we will continue to lift the Institute higher by actively participating in the its programmes and activities in 2020, thus making the year more successful than the previous.

Thank you for your support in making the past year so memorable. I look forward in anticipation to what we will accomplish together this year. I wish you a peaceful and successful year, 2020.

Yours in Service,

Mr. Eddie A. Efekoha
President/Chairman of Council

  1. Thank God. What a wonderful 2019 you had just pull through. However you have to assure the insured that is those who are paying Premium and whose payment are overdue by most of your insurance s companies that the industry is not distressed. You should encourage them to meet their obligations because most are insolvent. I don’t want to mention some of your flag ships that can not meet their payment obligations. Insurance is based on utmost good faith, therefore move on them through moral suasion to dispose on their assets and pay their contributors. Happy new year sir.
