NSE confers fellowship on Adeosun, 121 other engineers

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) on Monday, Nov 16,2020 conferred its prestigious Fellowship on Engr. Jacob Taiye Adeosun, amongst 121 deserving Engineers, nationwide.

The ceremony which took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, witnessed the conferment of the prestigious Fellowship amidst pomp and pageantry.

A statement by Joseph Obah of Risk Managers Society of Nigeria, noted that Engr Adeosun is a consummate professional whose outstanding profile speaks volumes of a man with diverse competences.

Engr. Jacob Taiye Adeosun ventured into the Engineering Profession with the B.Sc. (Hons) Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Ife, Ile Ife in 1980.

Following intensive field engineering practice involving design, construction, installation, production operations, maintenance and expansion of Process Plants in the Oil and Manufacturing Industry between 1982 and 1990, Jacob received specialist training in Risk Engineering from Marsh Energy London Office and Major Hazards Control Course from the University of Loughborough in 1990.

In 1993, he received further specialist training in Hazard Assessment and Risk Analysis Techniques as well as Hazards and Operability Studies for the Process and Hydrocarbon Industries Courses from the University of Texas at Austin.

Having become a Risk Engineering expert in the Nigerian and international insurance and reinsurance industry, Jacob qualified as a Risk Management Professional from The Institute of Risk Management, London in 2005 and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and Nigeria in 2004. He also qualified as an Approved Federal Government Authorized Inspector of Pressure Vessels and Lifting Equipment and an ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Lead Auditor in 2005.

A COREN Registered Engineer, he is a member of the following professional bodies:
The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE); Fellow, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE); American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE);Institute of Directors, Nigeria; Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria; Institute of Risk Management, UK; Fellow, Fire Protection Association of Nigeria (FPAN); Fellow Risk Surveyors Association of Nigeria and Fellow, Risk Managers Society of Nigeria

A renowned Resource Expert in Risk Engineering, an Executive Director of Insurance Brokers of Nigeria Limited and Country Head of Industrial Risks Protection Consultants Ltd, Jacob has presented technical papers at local and international fora. He published a book titled “Risk Management and Other Professions” in 2015. Few of his papers include: Pipeline Risk Management; Corporate Contingency and Disaster Recovery Plan; Current Trends for Loss Prevention in the Process Industries; On-shore Blowout, Nigeria; The Role of Risk Engineers in Oil & Gas Insurance and Risk Management in the Engineering Practice

He has conducted hundreds of risk engineering, risk assessment, due diligence evaluation, technical loss investigations, valuation of hi-tech plant & machinery assets, warranty assurance inspections for indigenous and multinational clients in Nigeria and some other African countries in the Petroleum, Manufacturing, Telecoms and Financial Services Sectors.

A positive reference of the engineering profession in the local and international insurance and the risk management industry, Jacob has mentored young engineers who desire career in the new field of risk engineering. He was the immediate past President of Risk Surveyors Association of Nigeria and the Risk Managers Society of Nigeria.
